Traditionally, hotels across the world would use manual methods to handle the different aspects of hotel operations. It was tedious, time-consuming, and prone to errors, to say the least. Maintaining records of a small property manually was still simpler than handling a bigger property. Let us take the example of a guest house with three or four rooms maintaining manual registers for hotel bookings, check-ins, checkouts, accounting, etc. Even if it is not a very efficient process, the manual register was still better than using the process for a hotel that has twenty-five rooms or even more.
